Using Oskar

Talk to Oskar and email digests

Ask Oskar about your customers in conversation, tell it what it can't see, and choose which emails you get.

You can ask Oskar about your customers, and tell it things it can't see in your data. It can also email you each morning, or once a week, with who needs you.

Talk to Oskar#

The Talk to Oskar button appears on every page in your workspace. What you talk about depends on where you open it:

  • Most pages: a conversation about your whole workspace. For example: "Who should I call this week?", "Which customers on the Team plan are slowing down?" or "Why is Acme on the focus list?"
  • On a customer's page: a conversation about that customer.

Oskar answers in the background, so you can keep working while it looks things up.

The customer drawer#

Opening a customer from Today, Customers, Watches, Impact or Latest from Oskar slides out a drawer. It shows why Oskar flagged them, what to do, their usage, and a conversation about just that customer.

What Oskar can do in a conversation#

While you talk, Oskar can:

  • find customers by status, by what they need, or by part of their name
  • look up a customer in detail: their current signals and the numbers behind them, the latest decision and its note, any feedback on it, and earlier decisions
  • remember what you tell it about a customer, such as why their usage changed or that you've already dealt with them. This is saved as feedback on their latest decision, and goes into their assessments for the next 60 days.
  • record facts about your business that you state, such as how often healthy customers use your product, or a note about seasonality. These are saved as confirmed by you.
  • confirm or discard facts it inferred, once you've told it whether they're right
  • create watches from plain English. See Watches.

Everything Oskar does in a conversation stays inside Oskar. It can't change anything in Stripe or PostHog, and it never contacts your customers. See Read-only by design.

Your conversations#

Your conversations are listed on the chat page, so you can pick one up again or delete it. They're yours: other people in your account don't see them. What you tell Oskar about a customer or your business is shared with the workspace, though, because it changes Oskar's decisions for everyone.

Email digests#

Oskar can email you who needs you, so you don't have to open it to find out. Choose how often in Settings, under Email from Oskar:

Choice What you get
Weekday mornings, when someone needs you (the default) An email on weekday mornings, only on days when at least one customer is on a focus list.
Monday mornings, a summary of the week One email every Monday, even when nobody needs you.
Never No digest emails.

Digests are sent at 07:30 UTC. Your choice is personal: each person in your account chooses for themselves.

What's in a digest#

One email covers every workspace you can see that has finished setup. For each workspace it lists:

  • the customers on your focus list, with what they need, Oskar's short explanation and its suggested next step
  • how many customers Oskar is quietly watching, which need no action yet
  • outcomes since your last digest, such as a failed payment that was paid after Oskar flagged it. See Impact.

Each workspace links straight to it in Oskar.

Who digests go to#

Digests only go to people in your Oskar account, at the email address they sign in with. Oskar never emails your customers.
